Hello. I'm Greg Atkinson. I serve on staff at Bent Tree Church <http://www.btbf.org/> in Dallas, TX (Pete Briscoe is my Senior Pastor). I'm writing a book called Church 2.0 <http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=5831513553> . In the book, I've interviewed over 40 key Church leaders from various churches across the country. PLEASE don't think this is just about technology. The book is divided into three sections – only one is on technology.
I've been traveling the country hosting local gatherings for Church leaders called Church 2.0 Local Forums. The gatherings so far have been amazing , inspirational, encouraging and extremely fruitful.
Consider this one way to meet and share with other Church and ministry leaders in the Atlanta area over a FREE lunch. Besides talking about and sharing how we are using Web 2.0 tools and technologies for ministry, we also talk about the Church (capitol "C") and what God is doing in the Kingdom.
Key parts of Web 2.0 and Church 2.0 are collaboration and open source. We'll discuss these and share examples of how God is igniting this throughout the country. I'm especially interested in hearing what God is up to in the Atlanta area.
Whether you're used to meeting with leaders from other churches and denominations or not, this meeting is for you. I guarantee you won't regret giving up a Friday to attend. Again, it's FREE and it is a really encouraging and informative gathering. We'll begin meeting at 10am, break for lunch and then dialogue some more until about 2pm.
So far, I've held these Church 2.0 Local Forums in LA, Chicago, Orange County, CA, Santa Cruz, CA and the upstate of South Carolina. This Fall I'll be taking this to Boston, Miami, Portland and Oklahoma City. This summer, on Friday, August 22nd, at Perimeter Church, I'll be bringing the Church 2.0 tour to your neck of the woods.
This gathering is for ALL Church and ministry leaders – past Local Forums have had amazing churches represented and staff members such as Senior Pastors, Worship Pastors, Tech Directors, Communications Directors, Youth Pastors, Next Gen/Young Adult Pastors, IT Directors – you name: this is for YOU!

Here are some quotes from previous attendees:
"Church 2.0 gives church leaders permission to innovate and create new ways to bring hope and help to the world which so desperately needs to know God's love." - Eric Bryant <http://www.ericbryant.org/> , Navigator at Mosaic in Los Angeles, Author of Peppermint-Filled Pinatas
"We significantly benefited from the real connections we have made at the 2.0 and those connections have already translated into things being put into place in our church's strategy." – Rich Kirkpatrick, worship pastor at Sunridge Community Church, Temecula, CA
Enjoyed connecting with other believers who are doing innovative things. Started idea-sharing relationships which will continue online and drove home praising God for His wonderful deeds! - Dawn Carter, Teaching Leader, Moms with A Purpose, Sandals Church, Riverside, CA
I enjoyed the local / regional element of the Church 2.0 Forum we hosted here in Santa Cruz. Besides the great general idea sharing a lot of the ideas had extra punch n' power because they are organically connected to our local culture. I also rather enjoyed watching Greg Atkinson choke down a raw Oyster on the Municipal Wharf - ahhh the taste of the whole Ocean. - Chuck Gerwig, Lead Pastor @ Elevation, A Post Modern Expression of Santa Cruz Bible Church, Santa Cruz, CA
I liked the free food. Talking with you one on one (which may not have been possible in a bigger group ). The continuing theme, that God is impressing on me, that God is breaking down the walls in the Church. We are stronger together than we are apart. We are one Church and this forum was a very small glimpse of that. - Rob Read, Campus Pastor, Healing Place Church
Church 2.0 is a lively discussion on how the church is opening up and using the latest technology and tools available to reach beyond its walls. - John Nahm, Phonevite <http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/Tonydye/~4/361340673>

<http://tonydye.typepad.com/.shared/image.html?/photos/uncategorized/2008/08/09/church2_2.jpg> As a quick follow-up to the Church 2.0 Atlanta Invite <http://tonydye.typepad.com/main/2008/08/church-20-atlan.html> , here's a bit of additional info from Greg Atkinson. There is some additional info on the Church 2.0 blog <http://church20.blogspot.com/> , as well as on Greg's blog <http://www.gregatkinson.com/> .
The format is definitely roundtable style. No presentation or seminar. This will be the 6th gathering and it's worked fine so far. Each gathering is different: what we discussed in LA and Orange County was different from what we talked about in Chicago. What we talked about in Santa Cruz was totally different than what we talked about in South Carolina.
You have to be okay with the unknown and the casual/informal nature of these gatherings. There is no set agenda or presentation. I don't set up a projector and teach. I gather us in a circle and we have a free-flowing conversation. I might suggest questions or topics, people text and Twitter in questions from around the country, but where we go and what we discuss only God knows.
Greg
