Ping host from client. (this will check for ping and dns resolution)

Verify dns. (check host file just in case) (if a host file entry exist
for the server it could be wrong)

Tracert from client to exchange server (use ip, this looks for a valid
route from client to host)

Run a netstat on client. (when attempting a send/receive) (use TCPview
works better than netstat. This will look for ports attempting
connection)

Ctrl-click the outlook icon in the tray (connection status will now be
available, select that to see details)

Check exchange logs for authentication errors.

Have her login via OWA.

Subject: [itdiscuss] exchange single-user problem

I have a single user using Outlook, very basic setup. It is an
online-only mode account, and everything she tries to login in the last
week Outlook responds with the error that the Exchange Server is
unavailable...but it is not! Hah!

Any ideas how to fix this?
