[itdiscuss] File Server Crazy Issue

I have seen this happen a few time in places where they had roaming profiles
working and thought to use some of the features of folder redirection for My
Documents or the like and didn't realize that they were sending them to the
same place. The offline synchronization kicks in a makes a bit of a circular
mess.

The Fix: In the short term, the file will go away if you delete it in both
locations. In the long term, you will need to move folder redirections to a
location outside of the roaming profile.

OK...so I have a problem. I have a file server and 1 single departmental
folder is having issues. First, it will not inherit permissions correctly.
Have tried reapplying child permissions to no avail.

Second, and more strangely, every time someone moves files into one folder
or another the next day they appear where they were originally! Have you
ever heard of such a thing? At this point I am looking at copying the files
out, deleting the whole folder, and setting up the new folder with all the
correct permissions and such. Thoughts?

Just a quick thought that came to mind: Is offline file synch set up
for a person who routinely accesses that folder? Perhaps files in their
offline folder are synching back to the file server folder?

Re: the permissions, no idea.

Regardless, declaring it a "rogue" folder and outlawing it might be the
best approach.

Good luck!

Lou

I'm looking for classroom receipt printers. My criterion are that they
use thermal paper, have an automatic cutter and connect by Ethernet. I
have found that the Samsung SRP-350EG seems to meet most if not all of
these needs.

Does anyone have experience with Samsung receipt printers and, more
specifically, the SRP-350EG in particular?

Would anyone recommend a different printer considering that the Samsung
is available for $222.11 plus shipping?
