[itdiscuss] Mac OSX entourage 2008 issue

I have some Macs that are dedicated to individual users as well as other
Macs that are shared between users. I have also had problems with some
Apps not working correctly when a user tries to use an application that
was not installed under their profile. But the easy solution is to
simply install your applications under the root user. That places all
permissions under the system account.

When we set up a Mac we find that many apps, especially Office and CS,
will only work properly if the install is done while logged on as the
end user. Our Macs are single user machines so it usually doesn't matter
but it is annoying that another user can't use the apps when logged into
their own profile. Any one else seen this behavior?

I have had this happen before. Look in the local address book for an
entry for that user. Entourage creates an address book entry based upon
the information you give it when you are registering. Open that default
entry and change the information within it to the personal information
of the user for that computer. If no address book entry is there, go
ahead and create one for the user. That should fix it.

Our Mac OSX.5 image is installed and registered under the name
Information Technology Dept and Organization name.... Office2008 is
installed and the name for the user that installed the application is IT
Dept and the Organization name is the church name.....
One of my users is now reporting that when they receive email their
display name in Entourage 2008 displays "Information Technology Dept
rather than the user's name.... in the TO line.
Anyone know of a way fix it?
