My first computer was so easy to use...
to reboot - I had to shake it.
to reset - I had to shake it...
to erase the hard drive - yup you got it ... I had to shake it.
it had no mouse - it had no keyboard...
it only had 2 dials - one went up and one went down...
anyone care to guess what it was?

Yeap I remember DEC. I was employed in customer support here in Sydney, or sno2-3/f3. Google searches for stl.dec.com (redbck and funlwb) will show nntp news posts I did while employed there.

Selective memory....
Just remember it all boils down to 1s and 0s. A computer, is a computer, is a computer.... Some of us have been around long enough to know what is popular today will go out of style tomorrow. Anyone remember DEC?

10 years ago macs were only nightmares to those who were afraid of them. =)
Before the "dawn" of Win95 EVERYTHING was easier on a mac, especially networking. Easier translatated to less work and better overall productivity for both the IT staff and users. It just worked. There were no 8.3 file name limits, you didn't have to come up with criptic names for network or printer shares, and you didn't have to assign letters to network drives.
With PCs you had to do all kinds of weird stuff just to make them work together. Do any of you remember NDIS drivers and getting them to work? Do you remember how to load the "middleware" that actually let you connect to a network server? Remember BANYAN VINES, LANMAN, PATHWORKS, and NETWARE? Those were the days that an IT guy earned his/her stripes. Take me back....please....take me back....
(By the way, I appologize ahead of time for any misspelled words. I still can't get the Office 2007 spell checker to work.)
