[itdiscuss] nLite ISO imaging over the network with PXE

I've used clonezilla in the past. At the time I believe it was said on
their site NTFS support was "experimental" and good luck if you used it.
It worked great once when we imaged 15 desktops. Then we got another 15
desktops and imaged those in the same way. All seemed to go well while
imaging. Then all the images for the second round started having
stability issues, inaccessible files (regardless of owner or permission)
and other various odd problems. A couple of those imaged boxes couldn't
boot at all. A that point we ditched clonezilla.
I revisted their site when you referred to it and I don't see the
daunting "NTFS experimental" warning this time. I may give it another go
and set it up in between loading the nLite CD images. It would be a
winner anyway even if I finished te images before I got clonezilla
working. There will always be the need for imaging in the future.
I miss G4U. I used it for many years. Then it seemed PC hardware got
ahead of G4U and I thinkthe last time we used it successfully was 2
years ago. Anyway... CLonezilla revisit time.
I think I'll give this a go as well :

Take a look at Clonezilla. You can do PXE booting to capture and
deploy images. The documentation/how-to at clonezilla.org for Ubuntu
server will give you step by step info on how to set it up.
