[itdiscuss] Symantec AV

I did an install to a fresh VM server, with no regrets. I think I remember
the Readme or install, says you must uninstall the SAVCE console from
previous versions anyway. (classic Symantec.not bothering to coexist with
or upgrade their previous versions)

The only loss in my opinion was that I lost some minor server settings
(exclusions). The only hiccup was that SEPS found the eicar test string on
my Mail Marshal SMTP gateway (which uses the McAfee snap-in), and Marshal
checks for that, and shuts itself down on tampering grounds. Once I created
a global exclusion for those two servers, (and they checked back in to the
management server) they began working again.

I just used add remove programs locally on each machine. If SAV was
managed, you may need to supply an uninstall password.

I was considering the option of moving My SAV server to a separate VM to
clean things up. Did you do an in-place upgrade? Julianna?

What process did you use to uninstall SAVCE?

Yes, it was their best upgrade yet. (which isn't flattering to their
process), but a big improvement in the console to deploy/manage it. I had a
few issues when I pushed the SEPS version out "over" previous versions.

(errors in outlook, that couldn't find the old add-in).. easily fixed, but I
feel like an upgrade is successful if you can do it and not have the End
users get errors. if you can uninstall previous versions of SAVCE before
you push SEPS out, it works more smoothly, in my experience.

Has anyone attempted to upgrade from Symantec Enterprise 10.0 to Symantec
Endpoint 11.0.4202? Were there any major issues?
