I also ran into a problem with Bart's PE.  It seems that it needs a full
copy of XP.  I got lots of errors and a warning when I used an OEM
version.

Yes there is a way to load it into Bart's PE.  I haven't done it with
Symantec, though.

I created a boot CD that lets me run AV and spyware.  This is what I
used to start:
