Totally agree with you, Dan.

We're still running XP and moving to Vista has never been seriously
considered for all of the aforementioned reasons.

Totally agree with standardizing on XP and foregoing Vista.
Respectfully, I submit as IT folks we should know the roadmap of
software and hardware well. Standardize on a platform. There are always
intermediate releases between the truly "major" ones: Office XP, Windows
ME, and Vista come to mind. Windows 7 is most likely what Vista should
have been if they could have fixed all the things they wanted to in time
(kind of like the iPhone 3G; should have been first iteration, but no 3G
network from AT&T yet).

An article just came out citing that while Vista licenses have sold, the
installed base is still incredibly low:

ll_from_Customers.

I disagree with the conclusion that customers will "be outraged they
have newer technology at home" and think also that is beside the point.
Stability and usability is what matters, and if that is accomplished on
XP then so be it. We will eventually migrate to Windows 7 and server
2008, of course, but not until they are at SP1 level most likely.

Dan
