Would you use the actual IP of the server or the loop-back address?

DHCP should be reporting the assigned IP addresses to the DNS server.
First thing I would check is DNS event log for errors. Next make sure
that you don't have any misconfiguration of your DNS. DC's should
always point to themselves first for primary dns on NIC card. Check
also to make sure that you do not have any orphaned DC's or DNS servers
listed in AD. You can check that by looking in your DNS configuration
and see if there are any servers listed as DC's that shouldn't be. If
you go to AD Sites and Services, what servers are listed as replicating
with each other? When you try to have it replicate there, does it pass?

Most of the time it is a simple NIC configuration issue. Either the
workstations do not point to the DC's or the DC's are not configured
properly so that they can first make sure they are kept up to date and
then replicating those changes to other DC's.

Subject: [itdiscuss] DNS Problems

I'm having DNS problems on my network. Normally DDNS should kick in to
keep my DNS server up to date with the IPs of my DHCP clients. However,
my DNS servers are not staying up to date with the information for these
clients. Does anyone have an idea on how to trouble-shoot this problem?

Thanks,
