Clonezilla sounds very interesting.  What did you use to boot the PCs,
as CD that you create for Clonezilla?  Also, did you do sysprep before
you created the images?  How do you handle the "activation" problem?

Driveimagexml requires preparing a bartpe or windows boot disk for a
restore.

 

Clonezilla is a linux boot cd with drive cloning built-in.  Works well.
I used it to create an image of a school lab and then copied the image
to a couple of usb drives and just had to boot and restore the image to
25 machines.

 

If you have a linux server they even have an option to use a boot and
restore option through the network.

You need to boot in windows enviroment/live windows CD.

Works well. (can also work on running HD)

Anyone have a recommendation for PC cloning software?  I'm looking for
something free or cheap.  I've tried using G4U but it won't recognize
the drive, which is a SATA drive.  Any other ideas?
