Yes! We love our HP z3100ps and have had it for about a year and a
half. When we were outsourcing, a typical 24x36" print cost $50-$60 not
including pickup/delivery time.
Now we can print on demand, which is key due to the number of last
minute requests we seem to get, and the overall print savings has made
it well worth the investment.

There are a wide variety of materials that can go through this machine
although we've pretty much standardized using HP Heavyweight coated
paper (eg. $41 per 100' roll at Costco)
This printer has 12 ink cartridges and each runs about $70 but they last
a fair amount of time. Yellow gets replaced most often.
The only other added expense would be printer heads but none of our have
needed replacement yet.=20

For production, we've set up a cutting table with a piece of 48"x30"
plexi (recommend "self-healing"), a 48" industrial straight-edge, and
rubber handle exacto knive. (A tabletop trimmer would be ideal if budget
is available.) We also stock 20x30" sheet of foamcore, spraymount, and
cardboard, adhesive easels for tabletop posters as needed.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you need anymore info.

Are any of you doing in-house large format printing --24"? We've
outsourced most of this, but would be interested in finding out if
anyone has made the jump to in-house and if they've found any
satisfaction in doing so.

Thanks,
Josh LeVeque
