[itdiscuss] Exchange Store Recovery

Well, the good news is that once you have finished running a repair on an Exchange database, you will have done something you can really be proud of. Actually that is not really even the good news. The good news is that it really is not THAT hard, you just have to follow the directions and it pretty much does the rest, but all the stuff flashing by on your screen (especially in isinteg) makes it look like you are truly hard at work, probably replacing ones and zeroes in the database by hand (eseutil is actually pretty boring, it rarely even updates the progress bar).. If you have a good backup of your information store from the last couple of days, and you make a copy of the Exchange database files before you start any work, then there is really nothing to worry about. I would suggest you copy those files off to a separate server or something, just to make sure you have the edb, stm, and log files you can roll back to if you really need to.

Has anyone actually had to recover an Exchange database? Can you point me to the most helpful documentation for this type of procedure?
