You're welcome. We're getting ready to implement some server side
Deleted Items retention policies (60 or 90 days...undecided at this
time). We're also going to implement Sent Items retention policies as
well as policies that remove files over a certain age and file size.
Those won't be as restrictive as deleted items policies. We are also
discussing an overall inbox retention policy if the policies mentioned
above don't help. That will likely be based on messages over a certain
age with very large attachments.
Of course with the coming of Exchange 2010 (we are on 2003 at the
moment) we'll likely move to Exchange 2010 which will require a new
server (Hyper-V VM - we already have the infrastructure for that) and
we'll gain more drive space for the info store and the retention
policies, while we'll still use them, may be looser then we plan to make
them in our current Exchange environment and will be able to up the
default mailbox sizes a bit. Then everyone will be glad they can keep a
lot more family pictures and funny videos on our servers. J

I don't think Outlook will auto create PSTs in 2GB increments, but the
link will explain how to allow PSTs to reach up to 20GB.

My current Exchange 2003 data store is at 65gb and I need to start
"archiving" data. If I archive data that is older than 1 year, for
example, from a mailbox that has as much as 10gb of data, what happens
when the archive pst file would end up being larger than 2gb? Do you
just loose the data or does it automatically create another PST file?
