[itdiscuss] By-By Vista; Hello Windows 7

Well, first off, I'm more of the opinion that Windows 7 is just a new name for Vista SP2 - but maybe that's just me.

Have been using it for about 6+ months. Have installed it on:

1. Netbook - ATOM processor 1 Gig RAM and works great

2. Old XP machine with 1 Gig RAM, 1.6mgz processor and works great

3. Have it on Dell D620 - 4 Gig RAM Intel 2 core 1.6mgz processor

4. Several virtual machines with 1 Gig RAM

All working great. The "tweaks" from Vista to Windows 7 are fine and are less disruptive for a user. Like the added features a lot - especially the security feature set. Have been happy with Vista and not seeing a huge difference with Windows 7 - just wish they could get the OS smaller.

Alas, Vista goes the way of Windows ME, Windows 98 first edition, Windows 3..0, Windows 2, Word 6 for the MAC; into the annals of history in a place where all of Microsoft's blunders reside. Waiting for a good business reason to make change isn't such a bad thing, even if Microsoft tries to convince you otherwise. It should be interesting to see how Windows 7 plays out. Who knows, this new OS might even be a great marketing help to Apple. What do you think? =)
