For templates you have a vast library to pick from, but from a
customizxation and flexibility standpoint I went with JSN Epic:

http://joomlashine.com/

I purchased unlimited domain usage for the template as well as their
slide show module. For... $175 if I recall you get unlimited domain
usage for both template and flash slideshow module, and access to the
developer support area where they are very responsive. A lot of
questions are also answered on the public forums. Also you get lifetime
upgrades. One desn't have to buy unlimited domain licensing. You can
spend less if just for one domain.

Anyway ... I have found Joomla + JSN Epic a wonderful, versatile
solution.

I'll second this endorsement of Joomla! Out of the box, the Joomla
package does a great job at providing a good website with several layers
of additional features. But the real power comes from the extensions
you can add as well as the customization you can do on the site.

The Joomla developers have put a real emphasis on developing a framework
for creating a full-featured robust site. I have yet to find anything
that Joomla is incapable of doing using either a pre-built extension
(many are free) or a small bit of custom code.

I like Joomla http://www.joomla.org/

It's free, easy to use (of course that is my opinion), a massive user
community with many useful addons (a lot of them free as well), a large
number of templates available to choose from frommany different vendors
(and many free ones) and most webhosts I've seen will run it. Some
webhosts even offer it as a service without you having to manually
install it. You just go to your webhost's control panel and choose it
from list. Of course, depending on the scope of your site, you may want
something a little beefier than a standard webhosting account.
