I'm personally running Windows 7 RTM (I know someone at Microsoft) :-) 64
bit and there hasn't been a single driver or piece of software I couldn't
install. The virtual XP mode is pretty handy:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/.
What I noticed specifically, is that in Windows XP Professional 64 bit, it
was like a whole new operating system that required different drivers,
etc...where as with both Vista and 7, things that run in the 32 bit versions
seem to run just fine in the 64 bit version, so you get the best of both
worlds; the ability to run all your old software, as well as anything you
have an installer for that's 64 bit.
