Ray,

I would be interesting to see if it is a delay in route or in sending.  Have you checked the email header to see what times the email hit the sending and receiving systems.  I wonder if it is a hit and miss issue and not on every email, if maybe the sender closed Outlook Express or had their machine go to sleep before the email left the Outbox and it didn't go out until they opened it up again, or if it is really getting hung up in the SPAM filter or your Exchange system.

I have a few very vocal members (complain directly to senior pastor rather than to me) about delays in emails from church staff.  The latest was a four day delay (he is using Yahoo).  Is there something I can do to troubleshoot this problem?  We are using Exchange 2003 and Barracuda.
