Is it free for organizations to use it or just low priced?

I have been using Microsoft Security Essentials since it was in beta and
have loved it. It doesn't have centralized management but ease of use
and speed is excellent plus you can't beat the cost. I have been
running it on 8 machines around here as a test as well with no problems.
Even installed it on several friends computers because they trusted too
many people on facebook J and it manage to catch what McAffe and Nortan
didn't (no big surprise there..).

The whole idea of Microsoft making their own virus protection is
actually kinda ironic though.

Don't think he is talking about Windows Defender. Microsoft Security
Essentials is a new free AV product from Microsoft and its small, fast
and according to some test shops does an excellent job of getting
malware.

This is unmanaged though...so home users are the main target.

I have read several reviews of Microsoft's "Windows Defender." Some are
saying it provides antispyware protection only, others are calling it
good antivirus protection as well. Of course, the MS sites are calling
it an excellent product.

Is anyone currently using it, and if so, will you please share your
impressions?

Thank you,

James Winterbower

AVG 8 is okay for free protection but it sure does slow down the systems
I've used it on. I'm recommending MS's new free offering since it uses
the Forefront engine but I still prefer VIPRE.

We decided not to hassle with this because they can just get AVG or some
other...gave us better pricing...

Oh, and if you ask nicely, Sunbelt will probably throw in home use
licenses for your users.

I have VIPRE Enterprise on my church network after running AVG Pro for
two years. At my previous employer we switched from McAfee to VIPRE,
and have just made the switch at my current employer from MS Forefront
Security. VIPRE's a great product and Sunbelt Software provides the
best support I've found anywhere.

The pricing is good for non-profits, but contact Bryan Berger
[BryanB at sunbelt-software.com] to ask for special pricing. In my case he
matched the renewal costs for AVG Pro and provided the Ninja/VIPRE email
protection as well.

Anyone using Vipre Enterprise? We are using Trend Micro and are not real
happy w/ it and Vipre is offering a buy out of your contract to change.
