[itdiscuss] HelpDesk Software

We use Lansweeper for the software\PC inventory and use it for some
system management tasks as well. It's worth the price of free. It also
has some add-ons for a small fee. I've never needed to buy that. It's
incredibly powerful free and out of the box (with no ads or requirements
to send limited environment information to any 3rd party as with
SpiceWorks. While limited info I like to avoid sending any info out
where I don't have to).

We use Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 here and I use one of the "fab
40" templates as our helpdesk. I modified it slightly using just the
sharepoint interface (didn't require SharePoint designer for the design
and layout mods) and I did use SharePoint designer to add some custom
workflows. But even before I added the custom workflows it was a great
tool.

Subject: [itdiscuss] HelpDesk Software

I am in the process of reviewing and making a final decision on a new
Helpdesk solution for our church. I need the helpdesk part and would
like to have it handle asset and software inventory.

I have narrowed it down to the following systems and would like any
feedback or input that any of you might have regarding these systems, or
others you have used:

1) SysAid Help Desk Software and Asset Management Software

2) Numara Track-It!
<http://www.numarasoftware.com/Track-It/help_desk_software.aspx>

3) ServiceDesk Plus

4) LANDesk

There is also a request that we set up some type of helpdesk system for
our Campus Operations area too, any recommendations on that one.
