Kevin:

Thanks for confirming that Method 3 does work.

We're not moving to Exch2K7 in the near future - $$ - so having this
option available will be helpful.

More importantly, Bill, with Kevin's confirmation below, it should be a
simple matter to get your Droid user connected using ActiveSync.

Good luck!

Lou

Lou
If you are running Exchange 2003 this will certainly come up. I have
used Method 3 as described in this article at least a dozen times to
solve this issue. In Exchange 2007 this issue has been corrected, so
you won't have to deal with any of the workarounds.

Yes, Bill, POP3 can open a can of worms when enabled.

Personally, I'm not a fan of POP3 and it won't be enabled as long as I'm
here. Secure POP3 does exist, but why bother jumping through those
hoops when it's an outdated protocol and other options exist, right?

It sounds like Mr. Brunson will be able to get you on track. Kevin, one
question: Are you/your clients using SSL-based OWA w/Forms-Based
Authentication? We're looking at setting up an iPhone user similar to
what Bill is trying to do with Droid and we do use SSL-based OWA
w/Forms-Based Authentication. This article
http://www.petri.co.il/problems_with_forms_based_authentication_and_ssl_
in_activesync.htm indicates problems can arise unless you put a
work-around in place (as described in the article). Any thoughts on
this?

Thanks,

Lou

No, we use the BES server for the BlackBerry. POP3 is a security
problem, isn't it?

My suspicion would be that you set it up as a POP3 account in the Droids
mail configuration utility and point it to your Exchange servers
external name. Isn't that the way you get it your Blackberry when you
don't have Enterprise Server?

From Exchange, Bill?

If so, I'm guessing you could attempt to do so using ActiveSync. Also,
if Exchange, what version are you running?
