If you can get around the issue of moisture I say give it a try... but
you had better take picts of the rig and share them with us.

Oops, sorry about the miss-spelling. I was thinking of a small fridge
without the freezer. I believe I've seen those around. As for the temp
change, I should be able to setup some kind of alert system that would
let me know the temp has dropped. Does that sound reasonable?

First I am assuming your subject should be HARSH, not hash... unless you
are storing your stash else in the fridge besides a NAS.
Would work well.. but has the same concerns as cooled racks... the
compressor drops out... you cook your gear.
The other thought, is it a fridge that uses the 'freezer' to cool the
fridge? Those usually get quite a bit of ice build up on them... and
moisture level would be fairly high wouldn't it?

I'm considering adding a NAS to backup to a building that is quite a
distance from our main building. We have a fiber connection to that
building. However, the environment is a little harsh. The building is
a maintenance shop.
What do you think about putting the NAS in a small, dorm sized
refrigerator to keep it cool and clean? I'm thinking that the frig
would be set to a lower setting than one you would use to keep food
cold.
